Seasonal menu change at Granny Mouse’s Bistro

With spring upon us, Culinary Artists at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa, Kirstie du Toit & Wayland Green recently created a new and exciting menu for the Bistro restaurant that is aimed at a wide variety of palates.

The starters, some with an Asian-South African influence, range from the famous soup of the day with garlic croutons, Pulled Duck Pocket with Spicy Citrus Sauce, Crumbed Snails with Slow Roast Tomato & Basil, Curried Fish, Soft Poached Egg, Cucumber & Greens and more starting from just R45 each.

With the starters being a light introduction to the menu as a whole, it is then on to the main menu options to fill the hungry. Be satisfied with an array of dishes that fill specific categories, that of pastas & rice, meat & poultry, seafood & fish as well as extras.

Indulge in vegetarian pasta & rice dish options – Penne, Roasted Butternut, Fresh Basil (R50), Balsamic Beetroot, Roast Tomato, Green Pepper Risotto (R75) or  Tagliatelle, Mixed Mushroom, Toasted Pumpkin Seed (R80) or  meat dish options including Chicken Schnitzel (R50), Beef and Vegetable Casserole (R70), Midlands Trout (Lemon and Caper) (R70) and even  Moroccan Lamb Shank (R120) to mention a few.  

“As the season’s change, so do our menus. We believe in supporting local produce and thus need to ensure that our menu options keep in line with the seasonal produce of our local suppliers. Some of the more popular items on our menu include the Midlands Trout, which is true to the area, as well as our Penne, Roasted Butternut and Fresh Basil dish that has become a favourite of our vegetarian guests,” commented Culinary Artist, Kirstie du Toit.

Sugar lovers will enjoy the selection of desserts which have only changed slightly due to demand from the guests. Baked Apple Tart, Rooibos Ice Cream, Muesli Crumble, Orange Jelly, Coconut Panacotta, Sweet Orange Marmalade, Nut Brittle, Chocolate Lasagne, Oreo & Chocolate Mousse, Spiced Berry Cream as well as the famous Ice Cream Trio, Sorbet Trio and a Cheese Board.
