Granny Mouse takes the cake with new Pastry Chef
They always say you can’t have your cake and eat it, but in the case of Granny Mouse Country House & Spa, this simply isn’t true with the arrival of the Hotels’ new pastry Chef, Leon de Kock.
Having attended the Alfresco International Academy of Food and Wine, de Kock joins the Granny Mouse team with a wealth of experience and knowledge, and adds a further dimension to this already award winning venue.
Hailing from East London, de Kock’s passion for pastry began at an early age, as he recalls often fuelling his creative side by playing in the kitchen, mixing up ingredients to see the resulting outcome. It was this passion for exploration, coupled with his level of perfectionism, which led de Kock into the field of pastry, where exact measurements are key to the success of any dish.
His passion for all things creative in his field has led to him specialise in a number of pastry dishes, including the very tricky traditional croquembouche, which has been his shinning glory.
When asked why he decided to join the Granny Mouse Team, de Kock commented that, “for me it was a personal challenge, as I have the opportunity to run a division on my own, and hope that I will be instrumental in providing our guests with more refined pastry dish options.”
Aside from his prowess with pastry, De Kock’s creativity extends to his hobbies, which include gardening and playing the piano.
De Kock’s presence on the Granny Mouse team will once again add to their already impressive wedding offering, in that the Hotel has the capacity to truly be a one-stop wedding venue, including wedding cake preparation for any bride.
