Less Stress With A Theme!

When you and your partner are planning your dream wedding, one of the first big decisions you’ll make is your theme.

Your wedding theme is a good chance to bring your own unique style and personality as a couple into your wedding.

Though having one isn’t mandatory, it does help set the tone and helps guide you when choosing everything from your décor, to your menu, and more. It keeps you focused and the decision making process becomes a whole lot easier!

The Granny Mouse Country House & Spa event coordinator, Veronica Sookdin, has some really great ideas for those who are planning their upcoming nuptials:

  • If you love the outdoors, consider having your wedding in a romantic garden, such as Granny Mouse. Possibly include a dress embellished with lacy flowers, and include local indigenous flowers into the bouquet and table settings.
  • A woodlands, or fairy, theme is a fun and rustic wedding idea. Fill your wedding with DIY pieces, like tree branch table runners that are surrounded by moss and wildflowers. For a pop of colour, place gold animal or fairy figurines on the table runners, and use these figurines to hold up your place cards.
  • Boho chic weddings are pages from a mythical woodland enchanted era. This theme has a distinct soft and romantic feel which is earthy and inspired by nature and the beautiful outdoors.
  • A sunflower theme is a bright, cheerful summer wedding idea. Include sunflowers in your floral displays and bouquet, and decorate your wedding cake with these sunny flowers. You can also have your bridesmaids wear dresses with a sunflower pattern, and offer packets of sunflower seeds as gifts to your guests.
  • Autumn foliage theme is an option where you can use colours of autumn to inspire your wedding style. Look at colours such as maroon, gold and forest green.
  • Spring ideas could be all things flowers, especially where there are so many flowers out in bloom to choose from. They can be included in every element of your wedding décor, from elaborate table settings to being incorporated in the menu and even wedding attire.
  • If you are a true romantic, then incorporate delicate palettes of pinks and golds and create a timeless wedding theme – include traditional table decor such as bouquets made of roses and peonies, which are big fluffy fragrant flowers.

South Africa has herbaceous cultivars and will set the romantic mood with candles and intimate settings for you and your guests.

The above are just a few ideas, and there are so many more. The team at Granny Mouse have an abundance of experience that they would be only too happy to share in order to make your wedding something truly special and memorable.
