Spa etiquette for newcomers
From facials, to massage therapy, body wraps and exfoliation, hair removal and hydrotherapy, the Spa is a place of retreat, where you get to feel a sense of relaxation and time away from life’s fast-paced and stressed style.
If you have never visited a spa or cannot remember what to expect, here are a few rules of etiquette that should be followed to ensure a positive experience.
#1: Booking in advance is recommended at all times.
#2: Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled treatment(s) to change and complete a consultation form with your therapist
#3: Ensure cellular phones are switched off. A spa is meant to be a peaceful place, therefore, cell phone ringing or people talking loudly on their phone will disturb the peace and hinder the next person’s experience.
#4: If the spa offers complimentary services with a booked treatment, then you should arrive at least 45 minutes earlier to make use of these. Granny Mouse Spa offer water facilities such as a Jacuzzi and steam room for spa clients.
#5: If you have an ailment, it is pertinent for you to convey this information to your therapist. Ailments could include: High blood pressure or heart conditions a recent surgery, muscle or Joint injuries, allergy to iodine, or product allergies, pregnancy, Epilepsy and Diabetes.
#6: Gratuities are not included in the treatment Price. It is at your discretion to add a gratuity.
#7: It is important to ensure you wear appropriate swimwear in the Jacuzzi or steam room, as the spa facility is used by other patrons.
#8: When it comes time for your treatment you will be directed to a room where you may remove your clothing. Clients of both sexes should keep their bottom underwear on. You may choose to keep your underwear on. You will be given a gown to wear which can then be removed when you enter the treatment room.
#9: Therapists are professional, so any parts of your body that are not being treated, will be covered with a sheet or towel.
#10: When it comes to hair removal (waxing), please ensure your hair is long enough to remove – about 6mm. Longer hair should be trimmed before the treatment. For ladies wanting to wax their bikini area, there are a few options to consider, so talk to your spa therapist to discover what options you have.
With this knowledge, get ready to make the spa your second home and book a treatment to enjoy.
