Hydration is key to calm your acne prone skin!

With the weather being a factor of effect on the skin it is important that you take precautions to either help prevent problem skin or treat it according to each season.

With the merge into the autumn months, as it starts to cool down, we start to feel that dryness in the air which can lead to excess dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to acne. Be careful to use fragrance-free lotions that are light on the skin, especially when applied to the face. (According to scienceline.org).

Granny Mouse Country House & Spa Manager, Liza Williams was recently interviewed to find out what the Granny Mouse Spa can offer for Acne prone skin – all year round.

“One rule to remember is to ensure a quality product is used that compliments the ‘type’ of skin you have on your face. That of, dry skin, combination or oily and choose a product accordingly. Another rule to remember is to follow a beauty routine that involves, cleansing, toning and moisturising and be sure to give your skin an intense hydration by having regular facials,” she says.

Granny Mouse Spa also offers treatments for Acne prone skin. These include the C-Spa Rebalancing Facial (R505) –a 60 minute skin treatment for oily to combination skin type. It is suitable for skin which is prone to breakouts and excessive production of the sebaceous glands which causes blackheads and white heads. In addition to this is the Thalgo Hydra Moist Facial (R810), which is suitable for all skin types and includes the Absolute Hydration range. This 60 minute facial also includes a mask which is highly effective for acne as it incorporates an active ingredient, Seve Marine, that can combat breakouts as it restores hydration, which oily skin lacks,” she adds.

If you are suffering with blemishes or are prone to acne, visit the Granny Mouse Spa to feel renewed and refreshed and get valuable skin advice from their trained beauty professionals.

Here are some general tips to help take care of your face:

Wash your skin twice a day with a mild soap-free cleanser and don’t scrub your face as it can aggravate the acne

Wash your face after you exercise as oil builds up and can clog pores.

Do not touch your face if you have touched oils or grease after eating greasy foods and don’t ‘pop’ pimples or squeeze anything on your face.

Try not to touch your face. Dirt collects on hands and when you touch an area on your face, the dirt and oil is transferred and can cause problem skin.

Use facial moisturizers or sunscreens that are oil-free.
