Granny Mouse cares about the environment

For many of us, being committed to recycling can be an inconvenience, but for the staff at Granny Mouse Country House and Spa, it has become a way of life. For the past 5 years, Granny Mouse Country House and Spa has been assessing ways in which they can lower their carbon footprint, and to ensure their participation in a recycling programme seemed the most obvious choice.

General Manager, Sean Granger, commented that, “as a hotel there are a number of items that we use daily from our kitchens to our bar that are easily recyclable. It has truly been a team effort to ensure that this programme runs effectively.”

Located behind the kitchen area are a series of recycling bins that have been erected to allow glass, plastic, paper and tin products to be separated when discarded.

According to the Wildlands Conservation Trust which encourages recycling, “at least 70-80% of household waste is recyclable, and yet much of it ends up in landfills! Much of the waste we produce in our households can be reduced greatly by buying items with less packaging and recycling what we can, that is, we need to REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE.”

With this in mind, Granny Mouse will continue to do their part to save the planet and encourage all other hotels to do the same.
